Description

The Project, located just one block away from Binghamton University's new Health Sciences and Technology Innovation Park (HS&TI Park), presents an opportunity for a developer to construct the first special purpose student housing/young professional complex to service this new expansion of Binghamton University into the Village of Johnson City. Made possible by a $105 million grant from the State of New York, the HS&TI Park will consist of several new buildings, including: the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, the Decker School of Nursing, two additional Research and Development Centers, and all located next to UHS Wilson Medical Center with which Binghamton University is strongly affiliated.

With the Project located just one block away from the HS&TI Park, and being one of the only large lots in close proximity to the HS&TI Park, the Project will be the pioneer in servicing the anticipated burgeoning need for housing of the approximately 1,400 students, as well as hundreds of faculty and health sciences professionals expected to attend or work in the area, all in addition to those currently working at or affiliated with the UHS Wilson Medical Center. Given the eclectic tenant base, the Project would be built to cater to the housing needs of undergraduate students, graduate students, faculty and young professionals all with a common affiliation: health sciences and innovation technology. The suites in the Project would be designed with a 1:1 bedroom/bathroom ratio, and include several different unit types: one, two and three bedroom units. This combination of mixed unit types and private bathrooms would help service the needs of undergraduates, graduates and young professionals alike. The modern design of the Project would be consistent with the overall rejuvenation of Johnson City, spearheaded by Binghamton University.
