Elsah is a historic Village in Jersey County, Illinois. Located on the banks of the Mississippi River, Elsah is nestled betwwen the limestone bluffs and the Great River Road.
The Mott Building, formerly the National Historic Elsah Landing Restaurant (from 1975 to 1993) was well renowned for its soups, breads and desserts displayed on a blackboard menu. The restaurant was drawing 80 percent of its business from out of town, many from St. Louis approximately 45 miles away.
The Village of Elsah received a grant from Landmarks Illinois to help restore the historic Mott Building. The restaurant / bar with two level outdoor patio area can accommodate seating for 54 customers. A retaurant entrepreneur drawn to the opportunity would fit into the Villages' strategic plan to enhance economic vitality for the Village already known as a venue for events and tourism.
