The Johnston Building is a beautiful, historic office building located in Uptown Charlotte. Originally 15 stories when completed in 1924, it was the tallest building in Charlotte until 1926. The top 2 floors were added in 1929. The building was named for local businessman Charles Worth Johnston. In 1992, the Charlotte
Mecklenburg Historic Landmarks Commission designated the building a Charlotte Historical Landmark. The Johnston Building features a stunning lobby and massive carved marble staircase. It is located within a block of Trade and Tryon Streets, and walking distance to the new Cultural Campus.
