Gary Bellard CCIM posted this Westport, CT Retail for Lease listing today to QuantumListing. Gary tried to do it last night, but had some trouble. We had an email exchange and I asked him to send me a screenshot which he did today.
After looking at the screenshot, I was able to quickly recognize that the problem was that he had not given the listing a title. I got on the phone with him and he was able to post the listing successfully.
I have not met Gary before, even though he has been in real estate longer than I have, and is probably less than 20 miles away from me. I asked him how heard about QuantumListing and he told me he saw the ad in the New York Real Estate Journal and immediately downloaded it and registered. Even better, he then got in touch with a colleague who downloaded it and told another colleague about it who also downloaded the app.
This story was exciting to me for a couple of reasons. First, I've been skeptical of the value of print advertising for apps. However, here's at least anecdotal evidence that it is not worthless. Second, Gary is older than me ( and I'm 53) but was willing not only to download the app and tell his friends about it, but also to take the time to figure out how to post a listing. Furthermore, when he hit a stumbling block, he reached out for help, instead of giving up.
So, I'm thinking my "ageist" assumption that younger generations would lead the way for QuantumListing's adoption has just been debunked. I am super gratified that Gary is rooting for QuantumListing to succeed because he feels that the commercial real estate listing landscape needs some viable competitors to the Collossi. And lastly, maybe it takes a print ad to reach someone like Gary. He may not be surfing Twitter, or LinkedIn or Facebook, although I didn't ask.
So thank you, Gary Bellard. We did not speak long, but I learned a lot from you, and I'm glad you're in my corner. Send [email protected] an email to learn more about his listing, or give him a call at 203-795-3853.
